September 13, 2023 Holiday Ornament

'It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring...'  Remember the nursery rhyme?  Yep, it's raining again this morning with a warning of flooding!  When will it stop?

The only good thing is that it's only supposed to be in the mid 70's...but humid!

The season of orange did finally show up yesterday.  It took the majority of the day but I did get all the fall decorations up.  I thought that I was missing a box until I remembered that I got rid of a lot of the fall artificial flowers & leaves last year.  They were looking very tired!

I didn't have time to work on my journal but I did make another one of the felt ball ornaments that I made yesterday.  I used a semi stiff felt and it made all the difference.  I also used regular thread the same color as the felt...basically white to sew the folded edges together.  So I could pull the thread tightly, I used a double thickness and it worked out great.

Here's the supplies needed...

I also used a blanket stitch to sew the half circles together.  It finished the edges nicely.  I used embroidery thread, all five strands, but I think you could also use yarn or even a gold thread that is shiny.

I added a loop at the top to hang the ornament and I made a tassel out of the embroidery thread to add to the bottom.  Take a look at these photos...

I have to say that these are easy and fast to make. And the cost is really low even if you have to purchase everything new.  I think most crafters will have at least some of the items on hand.

That's all for today...

Be safe, stay dry, and I'll talk with you tomorrow...
