December 20, 2023

Countdown to Christmas is getting short...only six days!  If you're not prepared, it's getting close to panic time!

The icebox fruitcake and the sugar plums turned out great.  Both are very rich, especially the sugar plums.

I found that interesting because  sugar plums are nothing more than dried fruit and nuts processed into tiny pieces and rolled into one inch balls.  When served, they are then rolled in sugar.  Until then, they are kept in the refrigerator.  One is about all I can eat at a time.

The cranberry pudding did not turn out so great.  For some reason the top of the pudding which is basically a steamed pudding was done and the bottom was no where close to being done.  In the end, the top was over done but the bottom was done nicely.  I will probably served it in pieces taking off the top part and only using the bottom.  It's served with a hard sauce...basically butter, cream and sugar!

Now that Christmas is almost here and children are likely to be home and I thought I would share an easy, inexpensive craft to do.  All you need are paper towel tubes or toilet paper tubes, glue (thick craft is best), a scissors.  Some folks like to paint the tubes first but that's optional.

First cut the tubes into one inch rings and form then using a bit of glue at the end, glue two pieces together...

Now glue the pieces together as shown...

Continue to add until you have the size you want...

I know this is a tried and true craft, especially great for children to do, but sometimes we forget the easy ones.

Today is cookie day...three types.  Hope they turn out like the icebox fruitcake and not the cranberry pudding!

Talk with you tomorrow...
