Tomorrow they are forecasting a light frost which means that soon after I can start pruning some of the plants in anticipation of winter...others have to stay until spring.
Sorry to the delay in posting today but the drastic change in weather did a number on my sinuses and I got very little sleep last night...so after getting up at 5am and taking care of things, I went back to bed for a couple hours.
The kitten (Cookie Monster) has grown quite a bit. He's becoming very long. I can't wait until he gets out of the biting habit. It is less and less each day but he still bites on occasion...
So I decided to make a couple small blocks remembering the first ones I made when I first began this quilting journey...
The background is an ironing pad with one inch squares. I have decided to make several different squares of varying very small sizes and put them into wall hanging which is what I did with the first quilting class I took. It will be a good way to start the 'Small is Beautiful' quilt program.
One of the techniques I was thinking of highlighting is Snippet Sensations (Cindy Walter). Remember them? I used both fabric with Steam-A-Seam double adhesive backing and fabric without the adhesive backing using powdered adhesive which is activated with heat (think iron).
I have several small miniature paper pieced creations using some of Carol Doak's Book. I actually had all the houses and trees made (about 30 blocks) from her Easy Paper Pieced Miniatures Book ready to put together which unfortunately were lost in the fire. If I remember right the blocks were about one and three-quarters inch to two inches with 15 or 16 different fabrics. Talk about tiny.
I'm still debating on the two other techniques to include but I am leaning toward Karen Eckmeier's simple layered landscape (of which I have several) and Sue Carlson's collage (again of which I have a couple). Well, enough of thinking out loud.
How is you day going? Are the colors starting to appear or have they exploded into a beautiful fall arrangements? I plan on going to the museum either this weekend or Monday (when I have a vehicle) to see the 'Dear Jane Quilt' and Grandma Moses Paintings. Hopefully the leaves will have turned. It's really not a long trip...only an hour and a half away!
There's a new challenge posted on the sidebar. When I said 'your choice' I meant it. It could be driving to a new store, accepting a volunteer activity, trying out a new restaurant, or exercising with a new routine, or even reaching out to someone just to say hi.
Have a fantastic day...talk with you tomorrow...earlier I hope!
