DANDELIONS - FIRST OF SUMMER
One of the pictures I posted yesterday was this...The first dandelion of the season (for me, at least). Well, I remembered that I always seem to look at dandelions as the beginning of summer and I wondered if I had taken the 'first of summer' pictures before...I did. Take a look at these...
Guess I do have a love affair with dandelions! Did you ever have fun blowing the dandelion seeds all over when the flowers developed into those big, fuzzy, white balls? My small child self loved doing that...AND I still love to do it. Maybe I am in my second childhood.
I remember when my children were small, we lived in a small town and the folks that lived in the house opposite of ours took great pains to rid their lawn of weeds...read that dandelions. They were always upset us because we did not do the same in our yard. As a result, our children had the same fun of blowing those seeds all over as I did when I was a child.
EMBELLISHMENTS
So, today I spent the day getting ready for my workshop on embellishments. First, I had to decide what to include and what not to include. Some things were easy like using thread and the sewing machine to draw and embellish. I will mention it but as we do not have sewing machines to use, that's it.
Making things like fabric flowers or fabric beads I choose not to include but I will teach those in a workshop next year.
Using paint, imaging, dyes are also out - not enough time as well as much too messy for this venue. So, that leaves things like buttons, beads, sequins, lace, trim, yarn, etc.
What I have done is assembled lots of small lengths of yarn, 20 different fun yarns, plus ribbon, lace, fabric and embroidery thread...
And buttons...
And beads, bead, beads, as well as sequins...
I also have some examples of embellishments...
Well, we've had a few thunderstorms and rain today. And rain is forecast for tomorrow. I am still going to Macy's for their flower show. I'm looking forward to seeing it and I promise to take some pictures to share.
Have a great evening...
Talk to you tomorrow...
