MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, ALABAMA

Bright Red Azaleas are not very common.  These were spectacular!

There's a tiny town in Alabama that is a must to visit if you're in the area.  Magnolia Springs.  It is tiny but it does sport some interesting sights.  The town is located on the banks of the Magnolia River and only around nine miles from the gulf beaches

For instance, have you ever read anything written by Fanny Flag?  Of course, Fried Green Tomatoes is my favorite but she wrote many books and among them is Redbird Christmas.  Well, that book written by her in this house...
...located in Magnolia Springs.  Forest Gump - who hasn't seen and loved that movie? - was also written in this quaint little town.

Driving around the town roads are like driving backwards through the ages when live oak trees shaded the roads like this one in Magnolia Springs...

And if you're looking for a place to eat, you can't go wrong with Jesse's Restaurant...
I had the pleasure of eating there and the food was delicious.   The oysters on the half shell were some of the freshest ones I have ever eaten...
I would gladly recommend everything on their menu, the food was that great.

So if you find yourself driving around in that area but sure to check out Magnolia Springs, Alabama.

The weather today is awesome.  69 degrees and sunny although the clouds are moving in.  It was so beautiful that I cleaned off our outside area and set up the lawn chairs and just took some time enjoying being outdoors.  I even have the windows in my office open.  Too bad tomorrow is going to only reach the mid to high forties.

But, the weather is probably also why I have had some sinus problems...headaches, eye strain, etc. Guess into the joy a little trouble always tumbles.

I hope everyone has a great weekend...
Be sure to take some time for yourself...
Visit with you on Monday...
